In today's episode I chat with Demi Elliot, my next-door neighbour, coach at Evolve Gym in Broome and Hyrox competitor.

I was excited to get her on because as a young person she is incredibly driven and motivated with plenty of things on her plate to keep her busy.

We discuss how she has gone from owing her own coffee van and being a busy barista every weekend, to coaching and training clients at Evolve Gym in Broome, whilst training to compete in her third Hyrox event coming up in August.

If you enjoy listening to real life stories featuring everyday authentic women, then this episode is definitely for you!

Suss out Demi at @coachedbydemi

Her shout out is to Sian Gower at @artbysian

You're listening to She Said It Out Loud, where real women share real stories without sugarcoating a thing. I'm your host, Emma Young, and I'll bring you on filtered conversations with ambitious women who faced challenges, made bold moves, and learned a lot along the way. You'll get real takeaways, honest lessons, stories that you're gonna relate to. Righto, let's get started. Hey there and welcome to the podcast. This is She Said It Out Loud, and I'm your host, Emma Young. Today's episode is kindly sponsored by The Broom Closet. Shane and his team are absolutely amazing. Not only for the fact that when you arrive, they are so wholesome and friendly, and the place is the most magical, intimate little setting, their cocktails are next level. For the month of July, they currently have this coupon sheet where you can pick it up at the bar, so you have to go in and they have exclusive food and drink offers all month, available in the venue only. So you must go in and pick up their July coupon sheet. And who knows, you might even find me there. Today's guest is Demi Elliott. She is my actual next door neighbor, but that's not why I got her onto the podcast. She is a coach at Evolve Gym here in Broome. She is currently training for a HyROX event. She is just a genuinely inspirational young woman. I thought, you know what? I want to get her onto the podcast and talk about what goes into training for a high rocks event. Not only that, just have a genuine conversation because she is so authentic. And you know what I'm like? I love women like that. So enough of me waffling. Here's our conversation. Welcome to the podcast, Demi. Now, as always, I would have gone on and on about how amazing you are in the intro. I'm so incredibly excited to have you here today. Now it wasn't a long journey because Demi actually lives next door to me. So she literally just popped on in, so that's handy for me. But look, Demi is my next door neighbour. I'm actually marrying her and her handsome fiance, Lockie, next year in July. But not only that, she's an epic coach at Evolved Gym here in Broome. And I really wanted to get her on because not only is Demi a ray of sunshine, I feel like she's an inspiration for many young women out there. So welcome to the podcast, Demi. Yeah, thanks for having me. Can you tell my listeners that are listening to today's episode a little bit about yourself?

SPEAKER_01

I moved here last year, uh middle of July from a town in South Australia. Me and my partner were just sort of wanting a bit of a different life and just sort of randomly picked a town, probably the furtherest place away from Tumbey Bay, and then we just moved to Broome. But yeah, now we're here.

SPEAKER_00

I still can't believe that. Because I mean we were talking before I pressed record that you're obviously quite young. Yeah. And to just up and just go to a completely different state. That had you been to Broom before?

SPEAKER_01

No, no. We hadn't been to Broome before. We actually light looked at our um house on FaceTime when we brought it. That's how we sort of knew that it was the one. So yeah, bit of a gamble coming across here, but it was good. Bit of a gamble. Well, we actually didn't even know that there was neighbours on the other side. Like Google Maps didn't even have that on there. So we'd up for like So was it the vacant land?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Oh.

SPEAKER_01

It was just an open block. We're like, oh, it's been there for a bit. Oh my gosh. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, so that's living on the edge. But I mean we ha we're happy for it because here you are now in the community. Yeah, it's good. What actually made you want to come though?

SPEAKER_01

Well, me and Lockie, we knew that we wanted to do a bit more living. And back home it was just a lot of working. Lockie worked on his family farm and just sort of whilst we have the opportunity to get away for a few years, and we just decided to move away. And him being a boilermaker, he wanted to move and go to the mines, but I didn't want to live in a mining town. So yeah, fair enough. Fort Headland was a big cross. So Broom it was. Broom and Port Headland can't really get too much more different. No, I've only been there once and I probably wouldn't go there again.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, okay. Yeah. Hey, look, I'm a fan, I'm a fan, but that's only because I'd driven in there, I stayed a couple of days, I met some really cool people that I know. Not sure about how I'd go living there.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I think to be honest, passing through not too bad, but like living. I actually have friends that live there and they said that they love it. It's all about community. Oh, it is. I just don't know that I could live there. Just not my this is like a holiday location. Like you feel like on a holiday all the time, whereas there I feel like it would be like really like you're living there.

SPEAKER_00

Like and you're working too. Yeah. Yeah. Fair enough. Now listen, you're a coach at Evolve, um, a personal trainer. Yeah. I want to chat more about this and how you even got into fitness and coaching to start with.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, so I've been a coach for coming up three years now. I started my search back in Tumbey before we moved up here. When we decided that we were going to move up here, I wanted I that's what the space I knew I wanted to go into. Um that's how long it sort of has been on the cards, this move. I was like, I'm setting myself up to do this and you know, sort of build a bit of knowledge before it before we move away. Before that, I actually used to run when I was growing up. I was a competitive runner. Um went to states and I even went overseas in a development camp. That was pretty cool. Um and then yeah, it was really That is cool. Yeah, really competitive doing that. And then I sort of lost interest in it a little bit, like in my later teen years, sort of as most people do, you just sort of social life is sort of everything. Your friends just become everything, which is good. Um, but I just lost my way for a bit. I did gain a little bit of weight for me and just felt just uncomfortable and just like not happy with myself. And yeah, then I just got back into fitness and then obviously like, you know, sort of m most people's first goal in fitness is to lose weight. So my goal was to lose weight, and then I lost a lot of weight, and then I was really like a stick. And it was just, you know, sometimes there is a point where you're like, you know, you need to reframe your mind and it's not it's not about being skinny, it's about being strong.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

So yeah, it took me a little bit to get to that point. But then when I sort of had that uh shift in mindset of I d I don't want to be skinny and feel fatigued, I want to be strong and feel healthy and whatnot, that's when it really my fitness journey sort of started again.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. I think that's really important that you mentioned that. Yeah. Because I think, look, as a teenager in the 90s, were you even born? When were you born? 2000. Yes, see, this is how old I am. But yes, okay, a teenager in the 90s, the whole thing, and I don't even know if you're gonna know this, but there was this like lemon and like lemon sugar barley diet, and you used to just like have this lemon sugar barley things, and looking back on it now, the stuff that teenage girls would do as in trying to keep skinny, it was like skinny was the cool thing to be. Yeah. And never once did you ever think of being strong. And I f that's one thing that I really think now, you know, God, that was 20 something years ago. Well, maybe in 30, Jesus, my maths is terrible. But you know what I mean? Yeah, yeah. Strong now is important.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I feel like there's definitely been a big shift in like the fitness space, especially with women, because it you know, lifting used to be perceived as oh, I don't want to be too bulky, I don't want to do this. And when you like weight training and stuff like that, there's so many benefits of it, of even as you like people like progress with your weight training. Like when you get older, it helps you with so many different things, like you know, even carrying groceries to the car and stuff. Oh, definitely. Like so many of the older clients that I've had, it just helps them with their day-to-day life move easier. And women, especially, because as you get older, your your muscle deteriorates at a rapid rate. The more strength training women do, the more beneficial it is to you. So it's good. It's good that there's been that shift.

SPEAKER_00

I think so. Yes. And so look, you do high rocks, which for me is like I didn't even know what high ROX was, and then I saw it come up on your feed. Yeah. And I was like, it you know, when you see something and then all of a sudden you just keep seeing it. Yeah, it's like me with Taylor Swift videos. I mean, they're constantly there, but yeah, you get saturated. Yeah. So then with Hyrux, I'm like, what even is this? It sounds nuts. Tell me more about Hyrux.

SPEAKER_01

So Hyrux is like very it's trending a lot at the moment. So what Hyrux is, it's a functional race, it's a hybrid race, and it's eight exercises and eight kilometres of eight kilometres in total. But how it works, it's one kilometer and then one exercise after it, repeated eight times. So there's different stations all throughout, and each station has its own rules that you might follow. It's got different weights, distances, etc. And yeah, the goal is to complete it the fastest, but obviously get no penalties as you're doing it as well. Okay, and what would a penalty look like? Penalties can be they're time penalties mainly. And then if you get too many penalties, you can get disqualified or yeah. Man, this is brutal. Yeah, they just had the um world championships in Stockholm, and yeah, it's pretty insane to watch the elite do a move very quick.

SPEAKER_00

So when was the one that you just recently did? What month?

SPEAKER_01

Gosh, when was that? That was Brisbane. I reckon it would have been Was that April? Yeah, I reckon it was April.

SPEAKER_00

That event that you did, you with your training partner Molly.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, me and Molly did it together.

SPEAKER_00

You came 13th in your division. Yeah. Was that your first ever high rocks event?

SPEAKER_01

So that was my second one. My first one was I did Sydney 2022, 23, and I did it with another friend. We just did women's open doubles when me and Molly did it. My previous one, I got an hour 13 of just open, and then me and Molly did women's pro doubles. So pros is men's weights. So in comparison of a sled push, open women's sled push is 102 kilos, pro women's is 152. Are you kidding me? Yeah, it's a lot.

SPEAKER_00

You're pushing 150 kilos on those little sled things.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. But how far is it going? Oh, we you have to do 50 meters in total. The stations you can split up however you want, pretty much, but you've got to do the runs together. Oh. Each kilometer you've got to be within a certain distance of each other. And then when you get to the station, you can break that up however you want. One person can do the whole thing if you really want them, if it's their strong point, but obviously you don't do that because otherwise you'd be buggered.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, that's nuts. Yeah. Yeah. I can barely lift a 2.5 kilo hand weight. I'm just picturing 150 kilos up pushing it. Okay, crazy.

SPEAKER_01

It's a yeah.

SPEAKER_00

So you're but you're currently training right now for the next high rocks event, which is in August. Where is that? Is that back in Brisbane?

SPEAKER_01

No, so we're in Perth this time. Oh. Which would be good. One less flight.

SPEAKER_00

Definitely, definitely. Look, I'm gonna put it straight out there. What is the goal of doing another Hyrux in the same year?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Me and Molly want to beat our time. So last time we got an hour eight, and this time we're aiming to get an hour five, which hoping if that all goes to plan, we will also get in the top 10. Because last time came 13th. So hopefully this pushes our time for top 10. To be honest, we are just doing it for a bit of fun, but there is that competitive edge to it. Obviously, now that we've done one, it's like radio. Well, it's only one flight away, we might as well do it. Yeah. Um, but I'm doing three events this time. Rather than doing the one and then last in Brisbane. Uh, I've got a relay on the Friday, mine and Molly's event on the Saturday, and then me and Loki are doing a mixed doubles on the Sunday. Mainly just surviving the weekend will probably be the main goal. Do you okay? Do you train every day? Like do you have like a one rest day? Sundays are normally my rest day. Yeah, most I have pretty big training days at the moment, as well as playing footy that just throws in the mix as well. So yeah, Sundays, my body is pretty sore.

SPEAKER_00

I'm exhausted listening to you right now. This is insane.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Again, I'm sure there's probably people, several of my listeners, they would have listened to Flossy's episode, Coach Carly's episode. There's been some fitness chicks on here. Yeah. I'm curious to know like what is your diet? Because that's one area that I'm always trying to get better at. But then saying that, twisties and burgerings, they have my name written all over them. Yeah. What does your diet look like training for something as intense as Hyrux?

SPEAKER_01

To be honest, I probably can eat more myself. There's some days that I just literally find myself so fatigued and I know that it doesn't come. I, you know, food is your energy source. You need to have food to be able to function and do X, Y, and Z. Um, but yeah, lots of carbs is in my diet. Yeah. To be honest, it depends what you're doing. Like for me, I need to have carbs to function. Like that is my main energy source. I eat when I'm hungry. I don't restrict myself. I just have what I want. But mind you, I do have pretty clean eating. Otherwise, I do feel a bit sluggish when I am training. Oh yeah. Yeah. The main thing for me is to really just try and feel myself the best I can so then I can get what I need out of my training. But yeah, sometimes you do feel like you're just eating for the sake of it, but you just have to. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

That's wise words right there. Yeah. Good on you. I've had to cut back on a cycles. It's been it's been terrible. I love a cycles. I know I'm addictive, but I mean, yeah, my doctor's like, you're coming up very close to having type 2 diabetes, cut back on fruit. Oh damn. I know. Hey, look, besides being a gym junkie, you and obviously a super fit lady, you're a barista. Yeah. Okay, more skills coming out from this woman. I'm loving it. You worked at Short Street, those guys are great, but before that, you told me you had a coffee van. Tell me more about this coffee van.

SPEAKER_01

So before I moved up here, Loki and I, well, I brought a coffee van and Lockie was my free help in the coffee van. Let's go Lockie now. Uh so yeah, we had that for probably two and a half years before we moved up here. It was, yeah, just something to do in a little town. Like Tumby Bay has 3,000 people. There's not much to do like job-wise. So it was just something to sort of fill my cup. And I do, don't get me wrong, I love enjoying making coffee and loved it in the coffee van. It's just one of those things, it's like you could probably do it with your eyes closed. That's how much I've done it. But yeah, it was so cool doing it. I think it's probably every barista's dream to sort of, you know, either do a coffee shop or a coffee van and whatnot. So it's just a really let's just do it. And so then you sold it. Yes, we sold it before we moved up here. We did think about bringing it up here, but yeah, when we sort of wanted to move up here, like being in the coffee van, you have to sacrifice so much. I suppose most business owners, like even people who go to the markets, would probably be able to understand, you know, you're sacrificing all your weekends and because that's where you make your most money. So you sort of have to give well, give up that time to work. I mean, it is very rewarding. But yeah, when you're the one that's the face of it, working it, doing all of it, it yeah, it does take a toll. I think for probably two and a half years we didn't really have much of a life. It was just working seven days a week all the time. So it's been nice to have a bit of a shift upon moving up here. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

That's good. And so I just want to know, as part of your own personality though, are you naturally patient? Because I feel like to be in the hospitality industry, especially making coffees.

SPEAKER_01

It's interesting. You do meet some very interesting people, but that's one thing I do miss about the coffee band. You know, like most people you meet are holiday, like holidaying or touring around, yeah, and they've just got nothing but time. So you just learn so much about people's lives and like conversation. In saying that those, you know, obviously when you're flat out and busy and people trying to talk to you and you're like, Yeah, oh, I just don't have time right now.

SPEAKER_00

It's like I feel like those coffee orders though. Like I I remember working at a cafe when I was 19, and I think because I never drank coffee when I was 19, I just didn't get it and the science of it. Yeah. So I'd forever be burning coffee and people would be complaining, and I'm like, what's your problem? Just drink your damn coffee. That's such a bad attitude. And also, I mean, I wasn't gonna go very far being that type of person making coffees with that type of attitude. Now, as I've gotten older, I hate to admit it, I am a coffee snob.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I'm a bit the sad.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, so I'm like, long ice black is my go-to. Yeah. And so I'm like, if this thing is burnt, yup. Yeah. If this thing tastes watery, yup. I mean, I take it, I go away, I rarely do I complain. Yeah. But I'm assuming as a barista, you're gonna get that amount of people that are like, can I get a soy mac, half topped up, half foam? Like, yeah, again, my attitude would be like, just eat, just drink the damn coffee.

SPEAKER_01

I know some people like when they describe their coffee order, the way that it's more the way they describe how they want it. And then it's like, you could have just said it like this. It's in like a simplified term. So if you're overcomplicating your order, that's why you're not getting it right. Oh, okay. But when we first when I first moved up here and started working at Short Street, essay, they don't have long Macs. I was like, what's a long Mac?

unknown

Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

It just didn't.

SPEAKER_00

What? What's going on? It's not even that far, SA. Just never heard of it.

SPEAKER_01

Just never heard of it. I've heard magic coffees before, it's a Melbourne thing, but no one's ever ordered a long Mac. I've never had to like look it up or anything like that. What's a magic coffee? Ma'am, it's like the perfect ratio of coffee to milk.

SPEAKER_00

Oh my god. Yeah, yeah. That sounds like coffee wanker term. Yeah, Melbourne. Oh, yeah, yeah, true. My Melbourne listeners will be like, geez, Emma's off on her rant again. You've got two sausage dogs, technical term, a dash hound. Yeah. Uh Frank and Bruno. What's it like having these two little sausages dogs as in they're already energetic, but I want to know, is it stressful having them, like taking them out for a walk?

SPEAKER_01

It was not too bad having one, but stressful taking two. I think it's a lot easier having one dog. I didn't realise that it was gonna be so chaotic having a second one. I don't know whether you've seen all those reels and whatnot or videos, and it's like the first dog that makes you, you know, it's so calm or like so cute, makes you want to get the second dog. And then the second dog's just like psycho. That's what Bruno's like. He's like an actual whirlwind. Oh, easy. Yeah, but to be honest, because Lockie works away, and obviously it's mainly just me in the house most of the time, it's actually good. They're like little people in the house. So like you don't feel like you're alone, they're always with you, and because they're such a needy dog, they're literally like you go to the toilet, they're coming in the toilet. You go to the bedroom, they're at your feet. It's like stop following me around. But it's they're good little dogs.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. I mean, I guess I'm looking at it from I've got two chocolate labradors, so they're meaty dogs. I'm looking at it like when I see them at the Parkazine, Frank and Bruno, I feel like, is a kite gonna come down the swoop and pick them up? Uh like their little bellies being so close to the ground, the little tiny leg.

SPEAKER_01

I feel like they're delicate dogs. Yeah, they are. We have so many ramps in our house, like for our bed, even the couch, but to be honest, they never they're so naughty, they don't use it. Oh really? Yeah, Bruno's got this thing at the moment where he literally will like run around the house and then he'll jump on the top of our on the top top of our couch. Oh gosh. And we just yell at him to get down, but I don't know what goes on when we're not home. Like he literally just like gets up there and it's like he's just gonna jump off. I'm like, oh no. We do the best that we can, but they just oh they're so naughty as well. Yeah. But that in saying that they are so good just when they don't bark all the time.

SPEAKER_00

Because they're cute. That's their problem, is that they're next level cute, those two.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Now, how's the wedding planning going? You are getting married by one of Broome's most famous celebrants. I've heard that she's potentially going to be marrying you. That's in July next year. Yep. How's the planning going? I've planned most things.

SPEAKER_01

Okay. To be honest, we probably could have had the wedding this year. That's how much I planned. Oh yes. Already got my dress, already booked in most things. Now it's just getting around to paying everything. Oh, yes. That's like the big thing, just ticking stuff off like that. But yeah, overall wedding planning, not too bad. But holy moly, the guest making a guest list was the hardest part. Okay. That is the hardest part of lack of planning.

SPEAKER_00

I look, I've noticed a trend, especially in this year in particular, mainly because of the cost of living, but also people that are coming from over East. A lot of people make a a huge holiday out of it. Yeah. Where half of their guests will either choose to drive and make it like a big driving vacation, especially older people, but not not a lot of people are doing that. And I found that the the guest list numbers have significantly dropped this year. Okay. What's your numbers looking like?

SPEAKER_01

Well, we're at like 160, not including people in Broome. But that's huge. Yeah, I know. That's been hard. It's hard to I think coming from a different town, and then my family is all over the place. Yeah. And we're part of many different friend groups. So I think that's been the hardest part because you know, we're friends with a whole group here, but and then a whole group over here. And it's sort of like you've got the same connection with everyone. So that's been probably why the numbers are so high.

SPEAKER_00

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Also, in saying that, I feel like because we live so far away, maybe that could impact it. I don't know. Okay.

SPEAKER_00

Sometimes that does. Yeah. It's interesting. Well, good on you for getting most of it done. Yeah. I'm impressed.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, I feel like we're gonna get to the wedding and Lockhey's gonna have no idea what's it's gonna be a surprise for him.

SPEAKER_00

So that's just letting you do it all. Yeah. Fabulous. Yeah. Now I didn't even ask this in my pre like interview, but I'm interested to know what's something that you do to just chill.

SPEAKER_01

Well, I go to the beach a lot. Okay. Yeah, just spending time at the beach, just being it off, even going fishing, camping, all that, just being out in nature. Yeah, just something that doesn't have any head noise where you can literally just be off grid where there's just nothing.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, I like that saying, head noise.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. I haven't heard that before. Oh, I feel like I have so much head noise. You know, when you just go, go, go all the time, you just you create so much head noise for yourself because you're always thinking of what to do next or you know, who's who you've got to reply to, or things like that. Whereas when you're out and there's no service or no one can contact you, you're not really thinking of anything but what you're doing at that time. Yeah. So that's probably my my favourite hobby.

SPEAKER_00

Wow.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. That's really cool.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, I hate fishing and camping. I hate it. I mean, I'm being brutally honest. My idea of camping rhymes with the crown um or the writs. Yes, the buffet and the couch. I mean, look, I need to find something that'd get rid of head noise. I love that saying. I've never heard that before. But I go, I wouldn't say I go through panic attacks when I don't have service. Sometimes I crave that though. Like I crave no one being able to email me or ask me about their wedding that's happening in two years' time. Anything to do with my job or or jobs, anything in regards to that. But then my guilty thing is doom scrolling. Like 90s nostalgia videos, which I'm laughing at all the time. Taylor Swift, of course, I have to see what she's doing and what restaurant she's walking into in New York. And then Mini Lop Bunnies. Literally, that is my life. And so to have no internet, I don't think I'd get a bit cranky. Do you know what I mean? And this head noise is still there.

SPEAKER_01

I feel like obviously doom scrolling gets the better of everyone. You just end up in this.

SPEAKER_00

It's so bad. It's one of the things that I just, as much as I like like having a smartphone and it makes life easy. It would be so good if you could just, I don't know, if they made it a rule where they're like, nah, on Sundays we all just put it to bed.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Yeah. I find that that most of my head noise comes from my phone. And sometimes it makes it worse because you can just like, it's so easy to be like you're doing something. It's like, oh, five minutes, I'll just do this, I'll just reply to this message. It's like, no, that people can wait. Not even having it as an option is probably the best thing to try and get rid of your head noise for a bit.

SPEAKER_00

Those are wise words. Look at you go.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Huh? Spoken like a pro.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, we're coming to the end now. I'm gonna ask you rapid fire questions. And is what's one thing that you wish women would know before they start training if they've never trained before?

SPEAKER_01

That no one really looks at you when you go into the gym. I don't mean that as in no one sees you, but I feel like when you go to the gym, you know, you're you get so in your head the first time you go and you think everyone's gonna look at me, everyone's gonna be watching me. Whereas it's not like that. People are just worried about themselves and they're you know, focusing on you like you, you, it's you versus you, not you versus everybody else. You're going there for you.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Um, I feel like yeah, when you step in there, it's just a totally different vibe to what you're expecting. Yeah, what you're expecting.

SPEAKER_00

Okay. Yeah. That's good.

SPEAKER_01

Uh what's something that you wish for in the future? In the future, well, near future, kids, that's probably my my near future thing. Yeah. Um, yeah, I feel like that's probably my next big thing I would just love to look forward to. Okay. Yeah. Well, good on you.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Like uh, what's something that you're truly grateful for? Lockie. Not very good at these rapid forward. You're totally fine. I'm gonna say Lockie on b on on your behalf.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Because he seems like a great guy.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, he is really good. I am grateful for him. To be honest, I'm grateful for the fact that he just will do what I want to do. As in, say if I want to do something, he will just make it happen. There's no no, there's let's work towards this. Yeah, he's just hands down, we'll just he's just a yes guy. And just way he even is. Sometimes I feel like me, I'm just so go, go, go. Even like with our relationship, for example, like me, go, go, go, I can be quite reactive to things because I just have so much on my plate. Whereas he is like calm. He's just so calm all the time. It's like yin and yang. We just really just balance each other out. So it's good. Sometimes I wish he was a bit more reactive because you know, when you try and like get a bit of a yeah, resume up, but he just don't give you the just doesn't give you it.

SPEAKER_00

So it's like that's hilarious. I think that's really good though. I mean, that's I'm very similar like that with my husband. He's always like, for the love of God, can you just take five seconds to breathe? Yeah. It works. I think that's kind of works for us, and it certainly seems to work for you guys. I mean, it's not like I'm stalking you over the fence, but when I see you guys roll up after your fishing trips and obviously stuff that you've done on social media, I feel like it's rare to find somebody that's wants to do all those things. Yeah. You know, have the two dogs, go out fishing, go out camping, do high rocks training. I mean, what husband and wife, I feel like even that's rare. I know you know guys aren't married yet, but you know, what partners want to participate in high rocks together?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. We've just got all the same interests, so it it really helps.

SPEAKER_00

Good on Lockheed. Okay, lastly, I always ask my guest to do a shout out. A woman who inspires you, somebody who's just somebody that's made you the person that you are today. Do you have anybody in mind?

SPEAKER_01

Yes, absolutely. One of my friends, Sean, she's known as Art by Shawn. She lives here in Brain. Yeah, she used to be a barista at Short Street.

SPEAKER_00

Or like as an S-I-A-N. Yes. Okay, yes. I think she knows Ash.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yes, she does. Okay, yes. Shan's just released the colouring in book. Hey, cool. Yeah, just released her first, well, published her first book. Okay. And then she's got a few more in the woodworks as well. So yeah, she's a cool person, does great things, and just a pleasure to like get to know being up here. Yeah. Yeah. So she's just doing amazing things around here.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, share that to her. And in the show notes, I'll put her social media tag so then people can find this awesome colouring book that she's got going on. Yeah. That's cool. Yeah, cool things.
